choco

hey hey!
I made brownies this weekend because I was feeling choco crazy! Of course I freeze them right away for fear of waking up in the middle of the night like a zombie and eating the whole batch...
Oh and I have come to the realization that somewhere deep down in my brain I associate baking with working with clay. I went to the studio this weekend so my desire for baking was lessened. :P

most lovely patchwork quilt ever?

I found this amazing hand stiched patchwork quilt at the flea market last week. The most incredible quilt ever! Being such a textile freak the patterns blew me away. I love the colors red and green all year round and this has got to be the score of the year!
the lady gave it to me for only 15 dollars! *faint*
!5 dollars for anything in nyc is unheard of. the flea markets and thrift stores are so expensive here that you are better off buying something new then used. But this very kind lady gave this quilt to me at such a steal. She even gave me this ceramic for only three dollars. woosh!
And p.s. I know for a fact it is hand stiched because it actually had some needles still in some of the patchwork! crazy. I have always wanted one of these.

on the train

one of my most favorite things to do is ride the train. I have been lucky enough to have a sleeper car for a few days when I used to travel to MN. Or washington DC. I love the cars with the view. I love the hum of the engine. I love everything about it. Here are some photos of a recent trip I took.

And oh! I will be starting another studio class that gives me access to fire my sculpture. Sooooooooooooo Excited I am!!! my life is not a happy one when I am not creating my own art.

some things that inspire me lately

i cant figure out why everything is underlined...
Anyway, I went to the old book store and found some amazing books. They are very old and the covers are devine. is it so wrong of me to buy the book mainly based on the covers. Am I one of those people? seems so. They just dont make books like these anymore. click the photos to see them bigger.

i also having been looking for some inspiring textiles. I found this paisley burnout print. For those of you textile freaks you guys know what a burnout is? well, it is basicly transparent in some areas and some areas are some sort of velvet. The guy at the store told me it was silk...

I think this book is in german. Not quite sure. the cover is better than this photo. ughh the lack of light in my living room is driving me crazy.

This one I love. I have been reading it. And it was written in the 50's. The author seems so sexist its unreal.

Another beauty. some of the pages inside are woodcut prints. I bought all these mini books for about a dollar.

and one of my old terracotta sculptures. I found this guy while cleaning out my stash. his tale is broken.

I found these yesterday. They are cards. they came with envelopes. One dollar for a set of maybe twenty. I love the detail of the drawing. it was made in 1975.

I may very well mail some of these cards. couldnt it be cool to recieve this in the mail?
